Oregon Spring Bear Hunting

The northeast Oregon spring black bear hunting season (control season) usually begins in mid April and and closes at the end of May. In previous years, you could bag a limit of one 1 male adult per tag. A black bear must be at least one year old to be considered an adult. The legal hunting hours are 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset . The resident hunting license fee is $21.50, and tags are $11.50 each. For nonresidents, the hunting license fee is $76.50, and tags are $151.50 each. If you are 18 years or younger, you must take a hunter safety course. Black bear can be taken with any generally approved big game firearm. You may use a bow and arrow. We believe this information to be accurate, but assume no responsibility for errors. The Minam Motel is authorized by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to issue appropriate licenses and tags.
There are a limited number of tags that will be issued. There are typically considerably fewer nonresident tags issued than resident tags. We believe there will only be TWO nonresident bear tags issued in the Minam Area this season. YOU MUST APPLY FOR A BEAR TAG NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 10, 2005!
