The Minam motel is located at the confluence of the Minam and Wallowa Rivers at the beginning of the Wild and Scenic white water rafting section of the Wallowa and Grande Ronde rivers. Primary rapids are generally rated Class II-III which require technical maneuvering. Difficulty increases and decreases as the rivers flows rise or fall. A free self-issue river permit is required to raft the Wallowa and Grande Ronde Rivers and is available at the motel just before you put in to the river.

You can take a 40 mile river rafting or kayaking trip from Minam to Troy, or take the 100 mile rafting or kayaking trip mile trip from Minam to the Snake River. The kayaking and rafting is not the only attraction: you will not believe the spectacular, dazzling, and breathtaking views of this unspoiled wilderness area.
