The early spring morning dawns with the sounds of songbirds such as the red winged blackbird and the migrating crossbills. From early spring to late summer a myriad of western birds migrate through these canyons such as the varied thrush, western tanager, cedar waxwing, red-naped sapsucker and western fly catcher. Resident species include towhee, house wren, piliated woodpecker, and red crossbills. Many other songbirds await the interested watcher. Many species of owls, grouse, raptors, and jays can be heard as well as seen along with many species of waterfowl that call these canyons home.
